Pope will visit Egypt as planned
After the suicide bombing in Coptic churches in Tanta
and Alexandria cities, Egypt is on full alert. According to Euronews,
security measures are tightened as extremely as possible in order
prevent similar attacks.
Egyptian public television reported that ISIS has claimed the responsibility for the attacks.
It is stated that the attack was timed right before Pope Francis' visit to Egypt.
Pope Francis is due to visit Cairo on April 28 and 29 and it is announced that the visit won't be postponed.
Greg Burke, the director of Vatican press office, stated that the Pope will visit Egypt as planned.
Father Rafic Grieche, the spokesman for the Egyptian bishops, said: "Egyptians are looking forward to Pope Francis' visit, although the atmosphere at present is heavy."
On the other hand, it is announced that there will be no celebration in Minya, but only a Easter mass. Minya hosts the largest Coptic Christian population in Egypt.
