Pope's call for help in Karabakh

Pope Francis visited Georgia on September 30. Having stayed in Georgia until October 2, he headed to Azerbaijani capital Baku and came together with head of Caucasus Muslims, head of Jewish community in Baku and Orthodox bishop. 

During his visit to Baku, he spoke about the Karabakh question and stated that he expects the help of the international community for Karabakh conflict.

According to Azerbaijani Trend News Agency, the Pope urged the conflicted sides to grasp every opportunity to reach a satisfactory solution: "I wish to express my heartfelt closeness to those who have had to leave their land and to many people who suffer the effects of bloody conflicts. I hope that the international community may be able to offer unfailingly its indispensable help. At the same time, in order to initiate a new phase for stable peace in the region, I invite everyone to grasp every opportunity to reach a satisfactory solution. I am confident that, with the help of God, and the good will of those involved, the Caucasus will be a place where, through dialogue and negotiation, disputes and differences will be resolved and overcome."

Pople Francis also stated that he feels deeply sorry about the violent ideologies causing conflicts.
