Minister Işık: we agreed on providing air support to Mosul operation

Turkish Minister of Defense Fikri Işık stated that Turkey will take part in the air operation of the coalition. 

The US or Iraq haven't confirmed this news yet.

After attending the meeting of South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM), Işık held a press meeting.

The reports asked whether Turkey will be involved in the Mosul operation and Işık answered: "Turkey and coalition forces have agreed on Turkey's participation in Mosul operation with its aerial equipment.”

Yesterday, Prime Minister Yıldırım said, “When the coalition will use our warplanes, we will be included in the coalition.”

Speaking to Deniz Zeyrek from Hürriyet Daily, Prime Minister Yıldırım said that, in the meetings of Turkey and US generals, it is agreed that Turkey will take part in the operation with its air force.

According to this story, operational command in Kuwait will use Turkish jets in the operations.

As part of the agreement, the coalition planes in İncirlik Airbase will also be used. On the other hand, the airbase in Diyarbakir will be the communication, search and rescue center of the air operations. The coalition cannot conduct any air operation without communication, search and rescue elements. Also, Turkey will have no contribution to drones, which play a critical part in the operation.
