Figen Yüksekdağ disqualified from membership of the parliament

The dossier concerning Yüksekdağ's conviction approved by Turkish Supreme Court was read in General Assembly of the Turkish parliament and she is disqualified from membership of the parliament.

It is stated that Figen Yüksekdağ's disqualification was informed in a letter which was sent to Prime Minister Office from Ministry of Justice.

The disqualification is grounded on the conviction of Yüksekdağ. Approved by Turkish Supreme Court, the conviction is caused by the final verdict on the imprisonment to which Yüksekdağ was sentenced in 2013. 

A lawsuit was filed against Yüksekdağ on charges of “violating law on meetings and demonstrations”, “inciting hatred and enmity among people” and “inciting to commit crime”. 30 years to 83 years prison sentence is requested for Yüksekdağ. 

12 HDP MPs, including co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, had been arrested on November 4, 2016 in police raids to their residences early in the morning.
