2014: Bloodiest year so far in Syria

The total number of death in the conflict has now passed 200,000, while in 2014, 18 thousand civilians including 3,501 children were killed. 17 thousand militants from the Islamic State and the Nusra Front were killed, while 15,747 people were killed from other opposition groups. According to the report, the number of deaths from regime forces is 22,627. 13 thousand of the deaths were from the Syrian army.

The report published by the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SN4HR) the number is much higher. The SN4HR puts the number of deaths at 39,021, stating that 32,507 of them were killed by forces of the Assad regime. The number of civilians killed by these forces is stated as 24,430, while 3,500 of these were children. The report puts the number of people killed by the Islamic State at 3,557. The report states that PYD forces were responsible of 110 deaths, while the bombing by the international coalition led to the death of 40 civilians.
