Switzerland-Armenia Association’s reaction ECHR
In Perincek-Switzerland Case, ECHR Grand Chamber ruled by a majority of ten judges against seven that Switzerland had violated Perincek’s freedom of speech. Switzerland-Armenia Association, which started this process by opening a lawsuit against Perinçek, reacted to EHCR’s decision.

ECHR Grand Chamber ruled by a majority of ten judges against seven that Switzerland had violated Perincek’s freedom of speech. The Second Chamber of ECHR ruled the same in 2013 and Switzerland took the case to Grand Chamber.

Akbank approves SOCAR loan for ‘prime’ project
The 212 million dollar Akbank loan for SOCAR, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijani Republic, for the container port project in Aliağa, İzmir, was approved on May 25. The project land was transferred to SOCAR with a ‘preferential’ clause added to the omnibus bill.

Joint 2015 Declaration from Armenia and Diaspora
The Republic of Armenia State Commission on the Coordination of Events for the Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide has announced its 2015 declaration. The declaration states that it expresses the united will of the Armenian people.

ECHR decision could take a year
The ‘Genocide Case’ hearing was held at the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights on January 28. A high number of politicians and civilian society leaders from Turkey, Armenia and the Diaspora were present in the courtroom. The case has also attracted interest from the international press since Amal Clooney represents Armenia. It could take up to a year for the reasoned decision in the case to be issued.
